The Biden Presidency and its implications for US, China, and Australia relations

This policy roundtable, jointly hosted by the UWA Public Policy Institute and the Australian Centre for Transcultural Studies at UWA and BFSU, brings together experts from Australia and China to examine US foreign policy in light of a Biden Presidency, and its implications for relations with and between China and Australia.

Our panelists will examine questions such as:

  • Will Biden continue the policy of strategic competition with China? What is China’s view of a Biden presidency?

  • How will Australia-China relations develop? What are the implications for Western Australia, particularly arising from the growing trade dispute with China?

  • Given the importance of climate change, how will a Biden Presidency shape US policy? Is a climate accord possible?

  • Finallly, our speakers will share their outlook on a return to US multilateralism and what this would mean for Australia.
